Description

A hybrid dessert-breakfast treat combining the flavors of a classic apple fritter with the texture of a Belgian waffle, finished with a decadent maple caramel glaze.


Ingredients

  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tbsp melted unsalted butter
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp butter (for drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Mix milk, egg, and melted butter in a separate bowl and combine with dry ingredients.
  3. Sauté diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon until slightly softened, then fold into batter.
  4. Heat waffle iron and grease with butter.
  5. Cook waffle batter until golden brown and steam stops.
  6. Simmer maple syrup and 2 tbsp butter until thickened for the glaze.
  7. Drizzle warm caramel over the waffles and serve immediately.
