A hybrid dessert-breakfast treat combining the flavors of a classic apple fritter with the texture of a Belgian waffle, finished with a decadent maple caramel glaze.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp melted unsalted butter
- 2 Granny Smith apples, finely diced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 2 tbsp butter (for drizzle)
Instructions
- Whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl.
- Mix milk, egg, and melted butter in a separate bowl and combine with dry ingredients.
- Sauté diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon until slightly softened, then fold into batter.
- Heat waffle iron and grease with butter.
- Cook waffle batter until golden brown and steam stops.
- Simmer maple syrup and 2 tbsp butter until thickened for the glaze.
- Drizzle warm caramel over the waffles and serve immediately.
