Description

A sophisticated twist on the classic candy apple, featuring a rich dark chocolate shell infused with fresh orange zest and extract for a balanced, citrusy finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium Granny Smith apples
  • 12 oz high-quality dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange zest, divided
  • 6 wooden lollipop sticks

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry 6 Granny Smith apples. Remove the stems and insert wooden sticks into the top of each apple.
  2. Set up a double boiler or a microwave-safe bowl. Combine the chopped dark chocolate and coconut oil.
  3. Melt the chocolate in 30-second intervals in the microwave, stirring in between, or slowly over simmering water until smooth.
  4. Stir in the orange extract and 1 tablespoon of the orange zest until fully incorporated.
  5. Dip each apple into the chocolate, rotating it to ensure full coverage. Lift the apple and let the excess drip off for a few seconds.
  6. Immediately sprinkle the remaining 1 tablespoon of orange zest over the wet chocolate.
  7. Place the apples on parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until the shell is firm.
