- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 2 cups mashed potatoes (about 4 medium potatoes)
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for sautéing)
- 2 tbsp butter (for mashed potatoes)
- ¼ cup heavy cream (for mashed potatoes)
Instructions
- Prepare ingredients by chopping onions, carrots, and any additional vegetables.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté onions until translucent. Add diced carrots and cook for another 3–4 minutes.
- Increase heat slightly and add ground meat to the skillet. Cook until browned while breaking it apart.
- Stir in peas along with broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Simmer for about 5–10 minutes until thickened.
- While the filling simmers, boil peeled potatoes until fork-tender. Drain and mash with butter, cream, salt, and pepper.
- Spread meat mixture in a baking dish and top generously with mashed potatoes. Bake at 400°F for about 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
