Description

A simplified, oven-roasted version of caramel apples. Thick apple slices are smothered in a rich brown butter caramel and baked until gooey and tender.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced into wedges
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large sheet pan with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared pan.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and cook, stirring constantly, until it turns golden brown and smells nutty.
  4. Stir in the brown sugar and salt, simmering for 2 minutes until blended.
  5. Slowly whisk in the heavy cream until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and cinnamon.
  7. Drizzle the caramel evenly over the apple slices on the sheet pan.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the caramel is bubbling and the apples are slightly tender.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
