Description

A gourmet twist on family taco night featuring ground beef infused with a homemade garlic herb butter and tortillas toasted in aromatic fats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8 corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced onions, sour cream

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mash together the softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley until well combined.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned and no longer pink, breaking it into small pieces.
  3. Drain the excess fat from the skillet, leaving about one tablespoon of grease in the pan.
  4. Stir in the ground cumin, chili powder, and salt. Cook for 2 minutes to toast the spices.
  5. Reduce heat to low and stir in 2 tablespoons of the prepared garlic herb butter until completely melted and the meat is glossy.
  6. Wipe out the skillet or use a second pan. Melt the remaining herb butter over medium heat.
  7. Toast each tortilla for about 30 seconds per side until warm and lightly golden.
  8. Spoon the buttery beef into the tortillas and serve immediately with a squeeze of fresh lime juice.
