  • 24 Oreo cookies, crushed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) red velvet cake mix
  • 1 cup water (or as directed on cake mix)
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (for cheesecake filling)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Combine crushed Oreo cookies with melted butter and press into the bottom of a springform pan. Bake for 10 minutes and let cool.
  2. Prepare the red velvet cake mix according to package instructions adding cocoa powder, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until combined.
  3. In another bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add sugar and sour cream; mix until blended. Add eggs one at a time until just combined.
  4. Pour half of the red velvet batter over the cooled crust, followed by half of the cheesecake filling. Repeat layers with remaining batters.
  5. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until edges are set but center jiggles slightly. Turn off the oven and leave the door ajar for one hour.
  6. Allow cooling completely before refrigerating for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
