This hearty dish combines succulent ground beef with tender potatoes, creating a satisfying meal that’s perfect for any occasion. Ideal for busy weeknights or leisurely weekends, this one-pan wonder is not only flavorful but also easy to prepare, making it a go-to option for families looking to enjoy a delicious home-cooked dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb high-quality ground beef (80/20 ratio)
  • 4 medium Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes (about 2 lbs), peeled and cubed
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients by washing and peeling the potatoes; cut them into uniform cubes. Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil. Sauté the diced onion until translucent, then add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Push the onions to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef. Break it apart as it browns evenly. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme while cooking.
  4. Once the meat is browned, stir in the potato cubes followed by enough broth to partially cover them. Bring everything to a simmer.
  5. Lower the heat to medium-low, cover with a lid, and let it cook for about 25–30 minutes until potatoes are tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Adjust seasoning if necessary before serving hot from the pan.
